In the aftermath of the 6.6 earthquake in China, many are left homeless, injured or dead. The video shows the horrendous damage and buildings reduced to rubble by the quake. 2,000 aftershocks have been felt since Saturday.
Digital Journal reported on the magnitude 6.6 earthquake which struck the city of Ya'an in the Sichuan province on Saturday, killing 203 persons and injuring at least 11,500, with at least 1,000 of them very seriously injured.
Rescue operations continue, as rescue workers comb through the rubble left by the temblor. The death toll is still expected to rise.
Many aftershocks continue to be felt on Sunday, including 57 above 3.0 magnitude and two between 5.0-5.9 magnitude. China Earthquake Networks Center has reported a total of 516 aftershocks with more expected.
France is offering to help the Chinese government in the crisis, with the French Foreign Ministry stating:
"It is with deep emotion that we learned a new earthquake ... had hit Sichuan province," the ministry said in a statement as cited by Xinhua news agency. "France shares the grief of the Chinese people, already deeply wounded by the disaster in May 2008 in Sichuan Province."

It is not only the city of Ya'an that has been affected by the quake. In total 3,870 armed police are assisting with rescue efforts in Lushan county together with 200 technicians who have been despatched to repair the telecommunications network.
While the infrastructure in Sichuan remains intact, is is badly damaged and broken in the epicenter area of the quake and close by. 279 telecommunication base stations have collapsed after the earthquake.
Almost all buildings in Longmen village have collapsed and nearly 10,000 houses have been damaged throughout the stricken area. The worse-hit areas of the region remain unreachable by road as several highways have been cut off.
The power grid has been disrupted and apparently phone services are only partially available throughout the affected region.
