FBI Update: Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, the suspect in the Boston bombing investigation, is now in custody after hiding out in a boat in Watertown. According to reports he is in serious condition.
Earlier tonight police converged on a boat in the backyard of 67 Franklin Street where Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was believed to be hiding . Witnesses' reported that around 20 to 30 shots had been fired in the neighborhood since the police converged on the location.
The news of the showdown came just after the police gave local citizens the go-ahead to leave their homes following an order to stay inside while authorities thoroughly searched the area. NBC reported that "Officials said thermal imaging from helicopters had located someone in a boat in the yard of a home. A senior police official later told NBC News the person was believed to be accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19."
Local news for the area has released a statement saying that 8 to 10 explosions had been heard and that the suspect had been wounded in the firefight. The standoff took a little over two hours to end before the 19-year-old was taken into custody.
A CNN feed is saying that Dzhokhar had indeed been wounded and was on his way to receive undisclosed medical care. Immediately following the capture of the 19 year old, the Mayor of Boston,Tom Menino tweeted "We got him."
