article imagePoll finds 6 in 10 Americans want wealth redistribution

By Paul Iddon     Apr 18, 2013 in Politics
Only 33 percent of Americans surveyed in a new poll think the current distribution of wealth in the United States is fair. Around 52 percent think it should be redistributed and 45 percent disagree.
The Gallup poll also finds that the amount of Americans who find the current distribution of wealth unfair is down from the 68% it was at in a poll taken back in 2008.
At an all-time high, as Politico writes, are the number of Americans who want the federal government to redistribute this wealth.
The poll came up with these findings after surveying 1,005 adults.
Gallup's bottom line on this finding is that, 'The majority of Americans believe that money and wealth in the U.S. should be more evenly distributed, and a slightly majority support the idea of the government helping to achieve that goal by "heavy" taxes on the rich.'
