The Daleks and the Cybermen will be appearing in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special currently being filmed, it has been claimed.
According to Digital Spy, writer and author Robert Banks Stewart made the claim while promoting his new crime-thriller novel The Hurricane's Tail.
"The Zygons are in there with all the others – particularly the Daleks and the Cybermen," he said.
Banks Stewart was responsible for Terror of the Zygons, the 1975 Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) story, which introduced that alien race to the Doctor Who universe.
Last weekend, another classic Doctor Who monster, the Ice Warriors, returned to the show, in Cold War, by Mark Gatiss (An Adventure in Space and Time).
As reported by Digital Journal earlier this month, the Zygons will be making only their second appearance in the TV series this coming November.
The current season of Doctor Who continues this Saturday, 20 April, with Hide. Written by Neil Cross, guest-stars Dougray Scott (Sinbad) and Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife) join Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.
