Mogadishu - The militant group Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for launching attacks inside the Somali capital of Mogadishu. At least 19 people have been killed, including several of the attackers.
The militants struck the capital's main court buildings, as well as detonating a car bomb on the road to the airport.
The car bombing left three people dead, two of whom were Turkish aid workers, with the third being the bomber.
The deadliest attack came when militants struck the capital's main court, with 16 people being killed in that attack, with 9 of the dead being the attackers.
A witness described the violence at the court:
Armed men entered the court and then we heard a blast. Then they started opening fire
The militant group Al-Shabab was pushed out of the capital back in 2011, by a joint Somali-African peacekeeping force. The militant group however still has a presence in several villages and rural areas within the country.
