article imageOttawa girls accused of forced pimping of teens plead not guilty

Ottawa - A former Canadian class valedictorian and two of her teen girlfriends have pleaded not guilty to forcing girls as young as 13 into prostitution after pretending to be their friends.
The three girls, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, appeared in an Ottawa courtroom on Monday where they pleaded not guilty to luring girls as young as 13 to the Walkley housing projects, drugging them, forcing them to strip naked and pose for pornographic photos and forcing them to service clients who raped them.
The three teenage pimps allegedly used violence and threats to force the girls, who they met through social media sites such as Facebook, to submit to their demands between April and June of last year.
One of the alleged victims was forced to pose for nude photos before being picked up by a client with a bikini fetish who dressed her in a pink swimsuit prior to raping her, Crown prosecutor Julien Lalande claimed. The girl was paid $180 for being raped, money which was taken from her by the alleged pimps, who then told her she hadn't earned enough and should see another client.
Another girl, age 16, attempted to escape from the trio upon learning what they had planned for her. She was captured and allegedly held down by two of the teens while the third one beat her face. The girl was then allegedly forced to perform oral sex on a taxi driver for $80 which was taken by the pimps.
A 13-year-old girl whose mother believed she was attending a sleep-over party with her new 'friends' was allegedly forced to dress in sexy clothing before being taken to a client who refused to have sex with her after figuring out she was being held against her will. The alleged victim was then roughed up by one of the pimps, who was then 15 years old and allegedly said, "she's on my time, she goes home when I'm ready to go home."
The trio is also accused of providing marijuana and alcohol to two girls, ages 14 and 15. The 14-year-old testified that she remembers passing out in a bathtub and being photographed while naked. The 15-year-old claimed she was taken to a basement where her clothes were torn off and she was photographed. That girl was also badly beaten; her injuries were visible in police photos taken weeks later.
The alleged pimps are accused of boasting about their actions on social media sites.
"Ain't no problem like a hoe problem," one of the 15-year-olds allegedly tweeted. "I've got hoe problemssss."
"I'm getting to tha money, n tha money getting to me," she added.
That same girl earlier referred to herself as the "female Bill Gates."
All told, seven alleged victims, ages 13-17, have come forward in the case. Jezebel reports that the defendants face 74 individual charges, including human trafficking, abduction, forcible confinement, robbery, sexual assault, assault and printing and publishing child pornography. The girls could possibly be tried as adults. Under the youth justice act, the maximum sentence for the girls, if they are found guilty, is three years. For adults facing similar charges, it is 14 years.
The case has shocked Canada. It is the first time that teenage girls have been accused of running a prostitution ring, and the alleged ringleader was a "class valedictorian and the go-to babysitter on her street," according to Ottawa Magazine.
"It's shocking for the team, they never saw anything like it," Staff Sgt. John McGetrick of the Ottawa Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Section told CTV.
Because the defendants are all minors, their names have not been released.
