Singapore - The Float at Marina Bay, Singapore, also known as Marina Bay Floating Platform, is the world’s largest floating football stadium.
The football stadium is built on a floating platform located on the Marina Reservoir off the famous Raffles Avenue in Singapore. The float can be used for other events not just for hosting football games.
According to an article, The Floating Platform at the Marina Bay, Singapore, by Hock Seng Koh,and Yoke Beng Lim, published by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, the floating platform, completed in 2007, was designed to be a multi-purpose facility on the bay for mass spectator events, sporting activities and cultural performances.
Singapore constructed this floating platform as a temporary venue to be used from 2007 to 2011, for holding their National Day Parade celebrations in August, an annual celebration of the city state’s independence, while the National Stadium was demolished and rebuilt.
Besides meeting all the structural engineering requirements, many environmental constraints and technical challenges had to be taken into consideration. At the same time of the development of the platform, the Marina Bay was being developed into a fresh water reservoir requiring that the floating platform had to be environmental friendly.

The floating platform became known as known as The Float@Marina Bay and viewed as the floating icon and landmark on the Singapore waters.
