article imageOp-Ed: Darts pundit resigns over ‘Paki’ joke — Drone murders continue

By Alexander Baron     Apr 11, 2013 in Politics
Which is worse, telling a joke about Pakistanis or murdering them indiscriminately? In politically correct Britain, there is only one answer to that question.
Martin Fitzmaurice may not be a household name, but if you live in the UK and follow the sport of darts, you will probably have heard it. Mr Fitzmaurice is now over seventy, which may have been what resulted in his career ending indiscretion. Or maybe he'd had a pint or seven. Whatever, he told a racist joke at a recent darts event, and unfortunately or otherwise, cameras were present.
Okay, he may have told more than one such joke, and rather than wait to be was sacked, like the more deserving Paul Elliott he has done the honourable thing and fallen on his sword. It remains to be seen if there will a police investigation or even a prosecution, but don't be surprised if there is.
The offending video, which was unearthed by or given to, the Daily Mail, can now be found on YouTube, with the offending parts bleeped out, something that is so typical of that newspaper.
In fact the joke he told is hardly new, and on a scale of 1 to 100, would certainly not make double digits. Needless to say, not everyone sees it that way, writing in Asian Image, Aleia Lister whines about a similar outrage: "there is never an excuse to use the term ‘Paki’; it is a racially offensive term that should never be used by someone who does not have Pakistani heritage".
Okay, we get the message, it's all right for you to use it, but not us honkies, or whatever politically incorrect Pakistanis call whites. Here's a suggestion dear, instead of penning absurd polemics, find yourself a husband and learn how to cook curry, like a good Pakistani wife. Or if that is too much to ask, on the 27th of this month, there is a Stop-the-War protest at RAF Waddington. Be there, because while dumb belles like you are whining about racist jokes and racist language, people of your heritage are being murdered by the American Government with the complicity of the British Government, an issue on which the British Parliament has so far refused to act. Furthermore, at the time of writing there are still over 30 Pakistani nationals detained at Guantánamo Bay where they have been held for years without being charged with any crime, and - in the past anyway - some have been subjected to torture.
If you and the rest of the politically correct left want to express outrage and righteous indignation over something, get your priorities right.
