Houston - The crime rate in Cypress, Texas has been notably low, as the crime rate is lower than 57% of U.S. cities. Houston however has been exponentially higher lately. This Lone Star College campus stabbing is a case in point.
At approximately 11:15 am this morning, the Police Department received a report of a vicious stabbing that just occurred at the Lone Star College Cy-Fair Campus. It has been reported by myFox Houston that approximately 14 victims have been injured if not more.
It was thought this crime had been the work of two suspects. The police even sent out reports of a second suspect being seen. At this time, the search for a second suspect has halted and it has been confirmed that the first suspect acted alone. The suspect, a white male of 21 went from building to building on the Cy-Fair campus and attacking random students there by stabbing them. It has been heard from students that the weapon might have been an Exacto knife.
At least 4 victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals in the area. The suspect has luckily been apprehended and an ABC news affiliate reported a student from the campus, James, helped tackle the suspect down. James said that as the suspect was taken down, he yelled out, "I give up, I give up." As ABC news reported, the first alert read out, " Two armed suspects at LSC-CyFair. One suspect is at large. Stay away from the area. Seek shelter in a secure location until the incident is resolved. Be aware of your surroundings. If you have reason to believe that the suspect is in or near your location, notify LSC Police at 281.290.5911, if it is safe to do so. Updates on the situation will follow as new and confirmed information becomes available."
Full details are still under investigation at this point. A motive as to why the stabbing occurred is still unknown. The Hufftington Post covered a press conference with Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia that gave an update on the situation.
The investigation is still ongoing at this point, as not every detail about the crime is clear. For the remainder of the day, the Cy-Fair campus will be closed. Other schools in the system are closed as a precaution as well.
