New York - A live event was held in New York City on April 5, 2013, the third anniversary of the release of the "Collateral Murder" video. WikiLeaks representative Birgitta Jónsdóttir was there along with other journalists.
Digital Journal reported in February that Birgitta Jónsdóttir was planning a trip to the USA, against the advice of her legal advisers, who had concerns that she may get caught up in the US persecution of WikiLeaks.
On April 5, Jónsdóttir held an event in New York City to raise awareness about Bradley Manning’s brutal treatment and his upcoming trial.
The discussion panel included Jónsdóttir, along with Kevin Gosztola (journalist with FireDogLake), Alexa O’Brien (independent journalist long covering the Bradley Manning trial) and Peter Hart (FAIR media critic). The discussion was moderated by film director, producer, writer and radio host Sam Seder.
The video includes an interesting discussion panel giving more detail about the Bradley Manning case in general and how the mainstream media has been involved in, or has ignored, the story.
Bradley Manning is facing court martial due to the release of the Collateral Murder video, which exposed the murder of innocent Iraqi civilians and two Reuters journalists.
