article imageWill Smith supports Justin Bieber: 'He can call and I’ll come'

By Marcus Hondro     Apr 6, 2013 in Entertainment
Superstar actor, and father of two burgeoning stars, Will Smith has defended Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber. Smith told Extra that he's 100 percent behind the Biebs and that if he's needed, he's there.
"When somebody is 19-years-old, they are going to do what they are going to do, just like we did," Smith said. "For me, the most important thing was for him to know anytime he can call and I’ll come, whatever happens."
Justin Bieber: Mishaps and Missteps
Bieber has been the butt of joking in media and by commenters online for a series of mishaps and missteps that have left him seeming to be "going off the rails" as one scribe put it. The 19-year-old was photographed smoking pot, late for a concert in London, lost his temper with a photographer, inexplicably walked through a Polish airport with no shirt on, allegedly spit at a neighbor and managed to get his pet monkey, Mally, quarantined in Germany on his 'Believe' tour.
It's a lot of stuff, and there's more, but Smith said that all the controversy surrounding Bieber of late is more about his creativity and about the media accosting him than the singer being a difficult person. Smith said that he feels there is a "war" against Bieber's "kind of artistry, that kind of creation."
The star of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the Men in Black movies, Smith considers Bieber almost like a member of his family. Bieber pals around with Smith's son, Jaden Smith, 14, who is a singer and actor and has appeared on stage and in videos with the Canadian artist.
