article imageTraffic accidents destroy couple's happiness

The tragic tale of Boeta Louwrens Geldenhuys and Chantal Beetge, for a few hours also Geldenhuys, and how traffic accidents forever changed their paths.
According to Huisgenoot, they met about eight years ago. The romance blossomed from the first meeting between Boeta Geldenhuys and Chantal Beetge.
About five years ago, they moved in with their first born into an apartment in Pretoria North.
In February 2012, he finally asked her the question he knew she wanted to hear for so long, and she of course said yes.
This prompted her to start carrying a wedding book with her wherever she went, writing down anything and everything that needs to be remembered for the wedding's planning. The wedding was scheduled for 1 December 2012.
Then the traffic accidents came.
First, the hairdresser who would manage Chantal's hair on their wedding day, died in a car accident.
Then, a car stopped abruptly in front of Boeta's, causing him to swerve to the side, killing whom he would later learn was an acquaintance on a motorcycle.
It took therapy and the support of friends and family to help Boeta process the accident and start focusing on his upcoming wedding day.
Finally they experienced the long awaited wedding day. Chantal was so overjoyed, she forgot how to make her brand new signature she had been practising for the register signing.
Beeld reports eight hours after the start of the wedding, they were driving barely five blocks to a guest house from where they would leave the next day on their honeymoon. The last thing Boeta remembers is the blinking green arrow of the traffic light.
According to Beeld, Boeta insisted to be present at Chantal's funeral. Badly injured himself, he was driven in an ambulance and attended on a hospital bed next to her gravesite.
The only consolation to him is that they were finally married just before it was too late for her.
Abram Themba, a staff sergeant in the military, is the drunk driver who destroyed their life together, reports Volksblad.
