article imageReview: 'The Carpenter's Miracle' premieres on GMC TV Special

By Markos Papadatos     Mar 31, 2013 in Entertainment
On March 30, the original film “The Carpenter’s Miracle,” starring Emmy-nominated actor Cameron Mathison, was televised on GMC TV, in an effort to kick off the Easter holiday weekend.
It tells the story of Josh Carey (played by Mathison), a modest handyman who rescued a 12-year old boy named Luke (played by Ryan Grantham), who had initially shown no signs of life as a result of a drowning accident. The boy’s mother, Sarah (played by Michelle Harrison), visits the boy in the emergency room, where Josh tries to console the grieving mom. He prays for the boy and he touches him. Luke is subsequently brought back to life, which is viewed upon as a miracle by the hospital staff and the people in the town.
This captures the interest of Delia, a manipulative news reporter (played by Sarah-Jane Redmond), who does all in her power to land an exclusive interview with all involved: Luke, Sarah and Josh. Delia tries to blow this story out of proportion and makes the town think that Josh can perform miracles.
One of the most moving scenes is when Josh learns that his elderly mother is ill in the hospital and he will have to make a difficult decision that will impact all of the characters in the film. In this scene, Cameron Mathison showcases his superb acting ability and range and he tackles the subject matter with much delicacy and sentimentalism.
The Verdict
“The Carpenter’s Miracle” is a very heartwarming and powerful film that is ideal for the entire family to watch especially during the Easter holiday weekend. It features such significant themes as faith, optimism, love and humility. What makes it an even more compelling film is that it is rich in symbolism. All four actors do an excellent job in their roles and they deserve to earn accolades for their extraordinary acting work. It garners two thumbs up and it is highly recommended for all viewers.
