article imageiPhone 5S set for launch in Q3 2013

Despite the iPhone 5 being relatively new to the smartphone market and to Apple's growing portfolio of tech products, the iPhone 5S is set to be released later this year.
The planned release of the iPhone 5S, rumored to be in the third quarter of 2013, has come from the Apple Insider which notes that Apple's partner suppliers will begin shipping parts for the iPhone 5 follow-up by the end of May. From this point the phone will be begin to be manufactured, with Apple preparing marketing campaigns for the third quarter and for a sales drive leading up to the lucrative Christmas market. CNET estimates that Apple could ship around 45 million iPhone 5S units in the fourth quarter of 2013.
So, what is likely to be special about the latest iPhone?
According to DigiTimes the headline grabbing upgrades will be a higher-end processor and a higher-megapixel camera (possibly 13 MP, according to TechRadar). This is in keeping with Apple's 'S' series, which follows a major launch, where the 'S' products are 'more enhanced' versions rather than radical new generation products. Apple's past 'S' models have featured the same shell as the core model, though with different features and slightly different tech specs.
Another rumor relates to the screen. The China Times says a 'Touch On Display' panel is being developed by Taiwanese supplier Innolux with 10 point multi-touch and a 0.5mm thickness. However, this might be something being held back for the iPhone 6 (expected sometime during 2014). Another possible feature, for which Apple have gained a patent, is wireless charging, according to CP Tech. A further area of innovation could be fingerprint recognition technology (although again this is more likely to appear with the iPhone 6).
From a different perspective, Forbes speculates that the iPhone 5 S will lead to a further increase of making mobile payments (using the smartphone to pay for low cost items, like a cup of coffee, in participating stores).
Apple, News Tribe reports, is also expected to unveil the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 sometime this year.
