Next Saturday, the Cartoon Network will be airing the anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion" again. To kick off the return, Cartoon Network will also air the movie "Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone."
Come next Saturday, the Toonami block (which features select Japanese anime shows) of Cartoon Network will be airing the “Neon Genesis Evangelion” series once again. The announcement was made by FUNimation Entertainment a few days ago. To kick off the return of CN airing Neon Genesis Evangelion, the station will air the movie called “Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone.” Neon Genesis Evangelion originally aired between 1995 and 1996; the series had run for twenty-six episodes. This is one of the oldest anime series to still have plenty of popularity on an international basis. Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone is an alternative retelling of the series compressed into a feature-length movie.
The story behind Neon Genesis Evangelion is set in somewhat of a post-apocalyptic world. In the year 2015, in that story, the Earth has been devastated. Japan, being hit very hard during the event known as the Second Impact, has been devastated. All that is left of the country is a city called Tokyo-3 which stays underground most of the time. However, Tokyo-3 is still dealing with the attack of beings called Angels. To combat the pilots, humanoid mechas known as “EVAs” are used; the only people capable of piloting those mechs are children born directly after the Second Impact. These pilots are the main characters of the series.
Evangelion 1.11 is followed with two sequels: “Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance” and “Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo.” FUNimation made the news of Neon Genesis Evangelion returning to CN at the anime convention known as MomoCon. Also, FUNimation has released the trailer for Evangelion 1.11 which is available on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc.
