Kandahar - Five American soldiers were killed yesterday when their helicopter crashed outside Kandahar city. The deaths and crash were announced today by officials, with an investigation now underway.
With the death of the 5 soldiers due to the crash, it brings the number of soldiers killed to 7 for Monday, with 2 other Americans being shot dead by another insider attack.
The NATO military coalition has so far claimed that the crash was not due to hostile fire, with no enemy activity in the area at the timing of the crash.
Several American soldiers have been killed in a number of helicopter crashes while in Afghanistan, one of the most notable ones being the downing a Chinook helicopter that left 30 American soldiers dead, many of them belonging to elite Navy SEAL units.
The total number of killed American soldiers for March comes to 12 now.
