Monsanto plans to sue the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) after the agency published data on the company's genetically modified corn.
The EFSA published data on Monsanto’s GM NK603 corn and this genetically modified corn was recently shown to cause cancer in a long term animal study by Dr. Séralini. Monsanto objects to the publication of its data on the GM corn and launched legal action against the EFSA.
The study is criticized by industry, and Monsanto insists that its GMO corn is safe.
Dr. Séralini and colleagues published their study in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology and it showed increased mortality and cancer rates among rats that had eaten GMO corn. Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide at concentrations lower than accepted safe limits also caused these toxic effects.
A previous article I wrote on GMOs shows that these compounds do show toxic effects.
If GMOs are supposedly safe, then why object to publication of their effects?
Will you try even harder to avoid GMOs after these reports? Do you want mandatory GMO labelling
