New York - R&B vocal group Simplicity chatted in-person with Digital Journal prior to their show at Gramercy Theatre on March 2, 2013, as part of the “Pop Explosion” tour, where they opened for pop boy band Midnight Red.
They shared the stage with a wide range of musical acts, which included Frankie Zulferino, Mood, Blush, Deph Naught, Mike Mason, Jillian Jensen, among many others. The R&B trio of sisters is made up of Starr, Shatarr and Tasia Lucas.
On performing in New York City’s Gramercy Theatre, they remarked, “It’s very exciting. This is something new for us. It’s really amazing and we are so blessed to be here.” “We love Midnight Red and we love their excitement. They are fresh and they have a lot of personality. We are excited to see them.”
The trio of singers revealed that they were inspired musically by such esteemed female acts as Destiny’s Child, TLC, SWV, as well as En Vogue.
They are signed to their independent record label, Lucas Entertainment and the girls noted that it affords them the privilege to have a great deal of creative and artistic freedom.
Regarding their plans for the future, the sisters acknowledged that they hope to “knock it out of the park” and to someday have a “gold record” similar as to how Beyonce and Destiny’s Child have paved the way for contemporary artists in the R&B genre of music. “We love what we do and we want to succeed in it. That’s the best way,” the girls concurred.
