Peterborough - Canada mourns at the news that Stompin' Tom Connors, the beloved folk and C&W entertainer has passed away at 77 at his home in Peterborough ,Ontario.
Connors personified the experiences of blue collar Canadians in many of his amusing novelty songs when he first emerged upon the Country and Western music scene in Canada during the mid sixties.
Like many of his generation he had a very rough and tumble beginning leaving his adopted home as a teenager to ramble up and down the Trans- Canada highway as a migrant and temporary worker which provided a fertile ground for his topical music.
Connor's family has requested that mourners send donations to homeless shelters or food banks in his honor.
