London - A happy and smiling Queen Elizabeth was released from the King Edward Vll hospital Monday afternoon where she graciously thanked the staff and caregivers who had helped her recover from gastroenteritis.
The Queen had been hospitalized yesterday as a precaution against any complications caused by the illness.
"The Queen has left the King Edward Vll Hospital having been admitted briefly as part of the assessment of symptoms of gastroenteritis."
said a statement from her representative at Buckingham Palace.
Yesterday was the first time the Queen had been hospitalized in a decade. Her granddaughter Kate Middleton had recently been treated at the same hospital for morning sickness.
