New York - On March 2, 2013, all five members of the pop group Midnight Red chatted with Digital Journal at a press event that was held at Gramercy Theatre, New York, as part of their headlining "Pop Explosion Tour."
The pop boy band is made up of Eric Secharia, Anthony Ladao, Thomas Augusto, Joey Diggs and Colton Rudloff. “It feels really good to be at Gramercy Theatre. There are a lot of good people here and there is a lot of good energy going around. We love it,” Joey said.
Their single “Hell Yeah” was produced by RedOne (who has worked with such artists as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and One Direction) and it has elements of Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, LMFAO and Michael Jackson. “We actually recorded the song in Paris, France and we had a great time working with our producer, RedOne,” Joey said. “When he comes into town, he makes you feel really safe and comfortable,” Colton added.
The group noted that being on an indie record label enhances their creativity and their artistic freedom. “We can call up the head of our label and meet with him tomorrow. He has the same vision as RedOne and it is a very family-oriented project now,” Colton said. “We have five guys in a group so if I am feeling down one day, I have four other brothers that can support me and that helps a lot in the creative process,” Anthony added.
According to Thomas, he remarked, “We learn a lot from each other since everybody is really talented and you get a little flavor of everything.”“We keep each other on our toes,” Colton admitted.
The entire group concurred that they would love to someday record a duet with global pop sensation Rihanna.
Midnight Red shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon and their goal is to make it to the top in the pop music scene. “We all want success and we want people to hear our music. We have been doing this forever and now it’s our time so why not attack it. That keeps us going each day,” Eric stated.
The guys of Midnight Red concluded by thanking all of their loyal fans for their genuine support. “We had an acoustic show yesterday and our guitarist [who lives a few blocks away] took a picture of fans that camped out last night to get tickets for our show. This is the first time that this has happened. We are so thankful for our fans, since without them we are not Midnight Red,” Eric concluded.
