Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio recently did a commercial in Japan. This commercial promotes Jim Beam bourbon to Japanese consumers.
In Japan, it's not uncommon to tap into celebrity star power as a means to market their products. It could be a Japanese company or a Japanese-branch of an international company. There are many commercials in Japan that utilize star power let alone Hollywood star power. One recent Japanese commercial features Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio who recently starred as the main villain in the recently released movie “Django Unchained.”
With regards to DiCaprio, he recently did a commercial for Jim Beam. If you live in North America, you probably won't catch it in Japan. If you live in or visiting Japan, you may catch the commercial on TV. This commercial has DiCaprio promoting Jim Beam bourbon. The commercial is short and gets to the point. It has DiCaprio chizzling at ice as it gets crafted into a sphere; but, it doesn't fit in the glass. DiCaprio snaps his fingers as it shatters into pieces and fitting inside the glass. The only words DiCaprio says in the commercial is “cool bourbon.”
He's not the first Hollywood celebrity to do a Japanese commercial. He won't be the last. Back when the show “24” was still on the air, Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer (the titular protagonist of the series) did a several Japanese commercials promoting Calorie Mate.
International actor Jean Reno, known for various films (“Leon: The Professional,” “Wasabi,” “Ronin,” “Mission Impossible,” and “Godzilla”), portrayed the live-action version of “Doraemon” for the Toyota commercials in Japan.
