article imageNext ‘Doctor Who’ series to reveal surprisingly spacious Tardis

In the next season of Doctor Who, set to air in spring 2013, sci-fi fans of the long running series, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will be able to see previously unexplored areas of the Doctor’s time machine, the Tardis.
Up till now, Doctor Who fans have had to make do with the Tardis control room which has seen a number of renovations and upgrades over the years. The last Tardis ‘home improvement’ was supervised by production designer Michael Pickwoad for last year’s Christmas special and Pickwoad will also be in charge of adding the new Tardis interiors.
One of the episodes for the 2013 series of Doctor Who gives a clue. It's titled 'Journey to the Centre of the Tardis'.
Reported on, series producer Steven Moffat said, “We've built the rest of the Tardis. The idea is in the title - we're going to journey to the centre of the Tardis. We've got some great visuals for that."
Space for these should not be a problem since the Tardis, in the best real estate jargon, is surprisingly spacious, being infinitely bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside.
In the next series, fans should be able to see other areas of the Tardis, often hinted at in the script but never shown on screen. Precisely what these are has not been revealed by the BBC but in past series of Doctor Who, the Doctor has made references to a swimming pool, toilet block and a walk-in wardrobe, reports The Sun.
In the UK, Doctor Who is scheduled to return to BBC One on March 30. The episode titled 'Journey to the Centre of the Tardis' is due to air in late April 2013.
In the new series, The Doctor (played by Matt Smith) will have a new companion, Clara, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
