MC Hammer, rap and dance icon of the 1990s, was booked into Santa Rita Jail Thursday night. He was arrested for obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties and resisting the officer at the Hacienda Crossings shopping center, Dublin, Calif.
After his arrest and release, MC Hammer, born Stanley Kirk Burrell, took to Twitter Friday and Saturday. CNN reports the former rapper posted a series of tweets to tell his side of the story.
Hammer alleged that the police officer treated him unfairly because he is African-American. The 50-year-old posted to Twitter: "Sometimes in life you choose to 'Fight' and other times the 'Fight' chooses you. Dignity is not a crime."
According to KTVU.com, MC Hammer, now a Christian preacher, said he was approached by a "chubbly Elvis looking dude" who tapped his car window. When he rolled down the window, the "Elvis looking dude" in uniform asked: "Are you on parole or probation?"
He continued: "While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet. It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop)!!! But make no mistake he's dangerous."
Hammer, who claimed he was the victim of racial profiling, said: "Only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge. I was citied [sic] for obstruction. I will now answer his question, contrary to his personal beliefs, all people of color are not on parole or probation fat boy!!!"

He tweeted on Saturday: "Instead of being bitter, I'm taking the opportunity to make this a 'teachable moment' and 'eye opener' for my many friends & colleagues."
The Daily Mail reports he said officers performed "medical tests" on him when he was booked into jail. He said: "My biggest concern? What was it that they injected into my arm under the guise of a 'Skin Test'?"
But according to CNN, police in Dublin said Hammer was in a vehicle with an expired registration. He also was not the registered owner of the vehicle.
Police spokesman Herb Walters, said: "After asking Hammer who the registered owner was he became very argumentative and refused to answer the officer's questions."
Police said Hammer has a court date next month. They said no drugs or alcohol were suspected in the incident.
According to the Daily Mail, the irony of the incident was that MC Hammer was on a trip to San Quentin to visit a group of inmates. He runs a program that assists inmates to begin a new life after release from jail. He said: "Disappointment? I was on my way to San Quentin Friday morning to congratulate a group of inmates in The Last Mile."
MC Hammer became a phenomenon in the 1990s after release of his smash hit single "U Can't Touch This."
