article imageWedding dates wanted for 'dashingly tall, house trained' brothers

By Greta McClain     Feb 21, 2013 in Odd News
Albany - Two brothers from New York may have found one of the most unique ways of finding a date for a family wedding, posting an advertisement on Craigslist .
Dave and Mike are two twenty-something-year-old brothers from Colonie, a suburb of Albany, New York. When they were invited to their cousin's wedding, they were told dates were "mandatory" so they would not "harass the bride's friends all night".
Instead of inviting a lady they were friends with, the duo decided to place an ad on Craigslist in order to avoid the inevitable question of "does this mean he wants to take it to the next level!?"
The unusual ad has gotten the attention of some news outlets, if not the attention of potential dates. The Times Union gives the brothers credit for anticipating the inevitable question most women would ask: “what is in it for me”? The brothers were fulling prepared to answer that question, providing a fairly extensive list of why a prospective date should say "yes". What girl could possibly resist the chance to get dressed up, enjoy an open bar and free food, experience suspense, mystery and adventure, witness eccentric/downright dangerous bro-2-bro dance moves and receive royalties for the romantic comedy developed out of the evening's events, something they are "85 percent" certain will happen.
As if those reasons are not enough, the duo was kind enough to provide a detailed description of themselves, saying:
"We're both in our 20s, single, dashingly tall, Anglo-Saxon, respectfully athletic, love to party, completely house trained, relaxed, passionate, smell great, have cool hair, clean up nice, boast great tie collections, will promise to shave, love our mother, have seen Love Actually several times, controversial, provocative, short-sighted (with a big picture mentality), raw, emotional, sensitive but still bad boys."
They forgot to add the fact they have an incredible sense of humor.
As All Over Albany points out, it is not always easy to find a good "plus-one" during wedding season, but with a creative ad like this one, Collage Candy may be right when they say "what’s not to love?"
