Toronto - In September 2012 Toronto Police arrested a skating coach in connection with a child sexual assault investigation. Today more charges were laid after a second victim came forward.
Kevin Michael Hicks, 52, of Toronto was first arrested on September 17, 2012.
According to Toronto Police it is alleged that the accused sexually assaulted a boy, 12, who was his student between 1983 and 1990. Hicks was charged with four counts of sexual assault and buggery.
After the first arrest another victim came forward to the police. At the time of the alleged crimes the victim was 12 to 13. The victim told police that the accused assaulted him on several occasions during a three to four month period while the victim was his student.
This morning Toronto Police charged the suspect with three counts of indecent assault on a male.
Hicks is a former national level figure skater and former coach with Woodbine Winter Skating Club, Weston Skating Club, Windsor Skating Club and Burlington Skating Club. He coached figure skating in Burlington, Toronto, Mississauga and Windsor during the 1980s.
At the time of the arrest police believed that there could be more victims. This belief continues.
