Maria Sanchez's photo of a man sitting with his dog at the the San Bernardino animal shelter went viral when she posted it to her facebook account. People took off with it offering funds to help the man be reunited with his dog according to KTLA News.
Maria then took to the streets with flyers to find out who the man was, originally believed to be named Christopher, as reported in the Examiner, it is now known he is Dave Thomas and he will be reunited with his dog Tuesday morning when the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter opens at 10 AM.
According to ABC News the San Bernardino police had removed Dave's dog from him and Buzz's collar when they arrested Dave for failure to appear in court on traffic violations last Friday. They turned Buzz over to the animal control who placed him in the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter. When Dave Thomas later arrived to get his dog back he was told he needed $400.00 as Buzz was being treated like a stray but Dave only had $6.00 on him which the shelter would not accept as a down payment.
Maria Sanchez asked on facebook for her photo be shared with everyone in her efforts to find Mr. Thomas and is grateful to all that assisted with her efforts to bring a happy ending reuniting Buzz with his owner Dave Thomas according to her facebook in a public follow up post to her original.
