Vancouver - 88-year-old Ray Bethell lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada and is without a doubt the world's premier kite flyer. The video shows his extreme skill in synchronized kite flying.
Ray Bethell started sport kite flying in 1980 and for many years he flew in team competitions with his team “The Vancouver High Flyers”, often placing first, second or third in North American competitions.
Over the years, Bethell has developed and refined his own kite flying technique that is now being copied by many kite flyers across the world. As a craftsman by profession, he has developed and manufactured special handles and kites suitable for his style of synchronized flying.
Above is a truly amazing display of his skill with three kites, who literally seem to have a life of their own as they fly together. According to the uploader of the video, kitelife, Bethell flies the right and left kites from his respective hands and the 3rd kite from his waist.
