A trailer has been released for the upcoming Japanese live-action movie called “Library Wars” aka “Toshokan Sensou” has been made available for viewing. This is adapted from the Japanese anime series of the same name.
Library Wars sets up an interesting premise of what could happen in Japan when 2019 hits. Under a new lass passed by the Japanese government, in the story, it has the power to destroy all “harmful” printed material. This is part of a government crackdown against the idea of free expression.
In this setting, its akin to any regime that sends out a large force of conscripts to destroy any sort of literature deemed to be anti-government propaganda. To counter this, in order to preserve all that important knowledge, a special military force is created called the “Library Force.” Members of the Library Force are tasked with the mission to protect the libraries of Japan along with all forms of printed media. It's the Library Force vs. the Japanese government.
The live action version of Library Wars will open nationwide in Japan on April 27.
