By Richard Milnes     Feb 10, 2013 in Entertainment
Sydney - The Mardi Gras Fair Day was held at Victoria Park, Sydney on Sunday 10 February 2013, from 10am to 7:30pm and marked the start of the Mardi Gras festival season.
The location of Victoria Park, in Camperdown, between the trendy areas of Chippendale, Glebe and Newtown and only a short distance to the Central Business District (CBD) was an ideal place for such an event.
The weather was better than the 2012 Fair Day with only a small amount of drizzle later in the day this year.
Stalls included DNA magazine and ‘One in Ten’.
There were also various food stalls including Portuguese and Jamaican.
‘Doggywood’ competition
There was a dog contest and also a ‘dancing’ dog. Many people brought their dogs along to the Fair Day.
Main stage
The festival hosts entertained the crowd with their risqué jokes and singers, including Heather Peace from England provided the music.
Official launch of Mardi Gras season
The 35th Mardi Gras season was officially launched by Lord Mayor Clover Moore on Friday, 8 February on the steps of Sydney Town Hall with the raising of the rainbow flag.
