article imageThe Home Depot hiring 80,000 sales staff for spring

Home improvement retailer The Home Depot said it is hiring in North America 80,000 sales staff ahead of the anticipated demand for home improvements this coming spring.
On its website, The Home Depot said Thursday it is hiring 10,000 more this year than last year. Meantime, The Home Depot Canada said it is looking to hire 6,700 sales staff across the country.
Bloomberg reported that aside from the foreseen demand for home improvements and renovations for the spring season, the US is seeing additional demand as parts of the east coast are still trying to recover from the aftermath of super storm Sandy last year.
The storm hit the eastern United States in October 2012, putting streets and subways under water, and leaving thousands without power for days, even months for some areas.
The Home Depot Canada said it is anticipating demand for its products and services since spring is what the company considers peak season, just as Christmas is peak season for other retailers.

Home Deport Canada said it is hiring temporary, full-time and part-time staff for sales, cashier operations, and professional design.
Bill Lennie, president, The Home Depot Canada, said many of the sales associates joining their team for the season are students and retirees.
"Our spring hiring season is another way we are able to create jobs and contribute to the Canadian economy," said Lennie.
Bloomberg reported that the additional hires this year is 14 percent more than last year's.
