The Philippine national football team Azkals will face the Myanmar White Angels in a tune-up game in preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers next month.
The Azkals will try to score another victory over the White Angels following their two-game victory during the 2012 AFC Cup tournament.
The Philippine Azkals took a semi-finals slot last year following their 2-0 win over Myanmar in the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup at the Supachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand
Veteran Azkal goalkeeper Neil Etheridge will join the team when they face the White Angels in their home turf.
Joining Etheridge in the Azkals team are brothers, Phil and James Younghusband, Fil-Germans Manny Ott and Patrick Reichelt, Chieffy Caligdong, Ian Araneta, Ed Sacapano and Fil-Dutch Jason De Jong.
The 19-man Azkals team also include Marvin and Marwin Angeles, Jeffrey Christiaens, Ref Cuaresma, Roel Gener, Chris Greatwich, Nestorio Margarse Jr., OJ Porteria and Matthew Uy
ABS-CBN's Studio 23 will cover the event live starting at 6 p.m.
Azkals manager Dan Palami hinted that his team might face Vietnam in a friendly match on Feb.10.
“Myanmar has confirmed. Waiting for Vietnam,” Azkals manager Dan Palami told InterAKTV.
The Philippine team is scheduled to face Cambodia, Turkmenistan and Brunei Darussalam for the Challenge Cup qualifiers from March 22 to 26 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Qualifiers from the 20-team tune-up tournament will play in the 2014 Challenge Cup proper in Maldives.
The Philippine Azkals landed third in the 2012 AFC Susuki Cup tournament.
