article imageWhat now for golden girl Rebecca Adlington?

Mansfield - Rebecca Adlington has announced her retirement from competitive swimming at the ripe old age of 23. Don't expect her to remain unemployed for long.
Rebecca Adlington announced her retirement from competitive swimming this morning, but the big question is what does a girl do after she has won two gold medals at the Olympics then followed it up with two bronze medals in the following Olympics, on home turf? After that disappointment - yes, she really meant that - she has decided to throw in the towel. The big question must be what next? First, no doubt, her 24th birthday party two weeks from today. Although not rich in the proper sense of the word, she doesn't have to seek paid employment yet, but as she is known to be mad about shoes, she could do some modelling if only part time, perhaps for Daniel Footwear. Modelling of any sort is a near certainty; she already does promo work, but at over 5 foot 10 and blonde with it, she may even give the big screen a shot, that's if somebody isn't eyeing her up already for a remake of Supergirl or some such.
Most likely though, whatever she does she will still be found around the pool or commentating on some sport or such. Another certainty is that although she can give the 5am starts a miss in future, she will live anything but the normal life she claims to crave.
Expect to see her back on your TV screen before her towel has dried, though not necessarily doing what you - or even she - would expect.
