Toei Animation has released a short teaser trailer for the 3D CGI film remake of the Japanese anime series known as "Space Pirate Captain Harlock."
A short teaser trailer has been made and released for the upcoming film called “Space Pirate Captain Harlock.” This feature-length film is a CGI remake of the anime and manga series of the same name. It is reported that Space Pirate Captain Harlock will be opening this fall nationwide in Japan.
Since this is a 3D CGI remake, it can be assumed that the film will follow the same storyline: Captain Harlock, fed up with the ineptitude of Earth's government, rebels and resorts to piracy as a means to fight for humanity's sake in his own way. Joining Captain Harlock is his crew of 40 members as they utilize the space battleship Arcadia.
This film was created via a collaboration between Toei Animation, Valhalla Entertainment, and All Nippon Entertainment Works. Shinji Aramaki, who directed “Appleseed,” will be directing the remake. Harutoshi Fukui, who wrote the novel version of “Gundam Unicorn,” is tasked with writing the script for the remake of Space Pirate Captain Harlock. It is reported that the budget of this film is the largest production budget by Toei Animation. The funding for this film is over $30 million dollars.
Originally, Space Pirate Captain Harlock came out in the late 1970s as a manga series created by Leiji Matsumoto. Also in the late 1970s, Space Pirate Captain Harlock got adapted into an anime series.
