Nashvillians have been waiting all winter for a measurable snowfall, and on Saturday they awoke to their first substantial winter wonderland of the season.
With February now upon us, it was beginning to look as if Nashville would not see snow this winter season. Although Nashville did get a minor dusting of snowfall on December 20, 2012, it was short lived, melting by late morning. Winter storm Khan made an appearance in the eastern part of Middle Tennessee on January 25th, leaving the area around the Cumberland Plateau covered in ice, but Nashville was left with nothing more than a cold rain.
Resigned to the fact that Nashville would most likely go a second straight year without a measurable snowfall, Saturday morning was a nice surprise. With temperatures dipping into the low 20's Friday night, Nashville was treated to a beautiful blanket of fresh snow. Although it was only about a quarter inch of snow, it was snow, and many were happy to see it.
Digital Journal was also excited to see the crisp, undisturbed snow gently blanketing the neighborhood, and decided to document the occasion with pictures.
