article imageAdele’s dad devastated by estrangement

The father of internationally acclaimed superstar and Oscar nominee Adele Adkins is said to be very disturbed about his estrangement from his daughter and her three-month-old son Angelo James.
Adele, 24, is set to perform at the Oscars on 24 February 2013 and her dad, Mark Evans, has stated that he will not be attending or watching his talented daughter on television as it would just galvanize a break down for him. Said Evans, “I know she’ll win because she’s brilliant but I won’t be there and I won’t even watch it on television. I’d break down and fall apart.”
Apparently Adele had become estranged from her father in 2011 after he had given an interview about her. According to the Mail On Sunday newspaper Evans claimed never to have bad mouthed Adele and was heartbroken that she had dismissed him from her life.
Said Evans, “I’ve left messages on her phone, I’ve written to her and I’ve sent her birthday and Christmas cards but it’s like I’m dead to her.”
He said that he was disappointed when he had to find out about his grandson’s birth via the media. He also displayed distaste for the name Angelo James, that the singing sensation had chosen for her firstborn.
Said Evans, “I’m not sure why she chose James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from.”
Evans said that he had hoped Adele would chose the name John as one of the baby’s names as John was the name of her deceased grandfather.
Evans added that all he wanted was to be a ‘proper granddad’ to Adele’s little boy.
Said Adele in 2012 in an interview with Vogue magazine, "He will never hear from me again. Because there is nothing that would upset me more than my dad being bribed by the press," she said. "It makes my blood boil . . . If I ever see him I will spit in his face."
