A newly designed umbrella is for sale online. Called the Brolly, it is an umbrella that has a handle designed to simplify being able to text and/or surf from a smartphone, according to
Gizmodo.
The
makers of the Brolly describe the umbrella as the "most comfortable, fashion forward and fun compact rain umbrella to ever hit the streets. Not only will the Brolly rain umbrella keep you dry, but it will enable you to text/e-mail in the rain, something no other umbrella can claim."
Distinguished by its grip, the Brolly has four finger holes and an ergonomic handle, which are designed to facilitate holding the umbrella in the rain while continuing to use a phone. The makers of the umbrella
describe the umbrella's handle as very sturdy with reinforcement in its design. The promotional video describes the umbrella's canopy as also being stronger than traditional umbrellas.
Over the past year there have been a couple of other unique umbrella redesigns, the
Rain Shield which changes the whole look of the conventional umbrella, and the
Air Umbrella which is an "invisible" umbrella that deflects rain away from the carrier.
The Brolly rain umbrella sells for $19.95. From the website it appears buyers can choose a blue/black color, but there is a drop down menu that offers choice of color, so presumably other color combinations will be added at some point.
What do you think? Would any of these three newly designed umbrellas appeal to you as an alternative to the conventional umbrella?
