A Russian baby narrowly escaped being run over after she was thrown out of a car in which she was riding. She was ejected out of the car into the path of a truck after the car skidded out of control on icy road and crashed into another oncoming truck.
ABC News reports that the 1-year-old girl was not strapped into a car seat. She was ejected violently from the car on impact. A truck approaching at the moment she landed on the road barely avoided running over her by slowing down and swerving.
The shocking incident was captured on the dashboard camera of another vehicle at the scene.
ABC News quotes a Russian auto news site that says the driver, a 53-year-old man, lost control of his Mitsubishi SUV when he was trying to overtake another car on a narrow and slippery icy road.
Police accused the driver of placing the child "'like a doll' on the shelf under the back windshield" of the car instead of buckling her to a car seat or using a child safety seat.
The video shows the driver running on the road immediately after the crash. He picks up the baby and returns her to the car.
The baby suffered injuries to her head and face, reports say.
