During ABC's telecast of President Obama's inaugural address Monday, anchor George Stephanopolous confused NBA legend Bill Russell for actor Morgan Freeman.
When the camera panned to a shot of
Bill Russell, an 11-time NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, and NBA Hall of Famer, Stephanopolous mistook him for
Morgan Freeman, a five-time Oscar nominee,
The NY Post reports. To make matters even more embarrassing, Russell was wearing a Celtics cap.

"That's Morgan Freeman, I think, right there on the Capitol steps, Stephanopolous said. "No, Bill Russell, I'm sorry."
That night on the Comedy Central's
The Daily Show, John Stewart joked, "Now in George Stephanopolous' defense, all tall people look alike to him,"
RapFix reports.
Grantland writer Zach Lowe also took advantage of the mix-up and
tweeted "Morgan Freeman is a pretty mean shot blocker in pick-up games, though."
Russell and Morgan are in their 70s and both are relatively tall, though there is a considerable difference. Russell is 6-9 and Freeman is 6-2,
USA Today reports.
