A
baby shower turned into a violent brawl in Stoughton, Massachusetts at approximately 11:38 pm on Saturday.
Police responded to 76 Porter Street after reports of a disturbance at Club Luiz De Camoes. Officers found a group of adults involved in a fight — in the presence of numerous children. After officers ordered the group to vacate the building, more brawling ensued.
The officers protected the children while attempting to cease the fighting. When they did so, more brawling erupted. During the violence, furniture was broken and bottles smashed.
Police Sgt.
Daniel McGowan described the scene as "a nightmare."
ABC reports approximately 200 people were involved in the brawl, with four arrests being made. Paulo Pires Depina and Patrick Cardoso Lopes, both 24, were arrested along with 22-year old Aderito Lopes Deandrade. A 14-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was also arrested.
The men pleaded not guilty at their Monday arraignment and were released on $1,000 bail. They are charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault and battery on a police officer.
According to
reports, the fight was started over the presence of uninvited shower guests.
