American singer Katy Perry and British boy band One Direction came home with the biggest haul in the recently concluded 2013 People's Choice Awards held at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles Wednesday.
Perry had the most trophies of the night winning four awards in the categories "Favorite Female Artist", "Favorite Pop Artist", "Favorite Fan Following" (for Katy Cats) and "Favorite Music Video" (for her song Part of Me). One Direction scores two awards for "Favorite Song" ( for What Makes You Beautiful) and "Favorite Album" (for their LP, Up All Night)
The singer said that her favorite award of the night would be the "Favorite Fan Following", as quoted in Digital Spy, "I think if I had to pick one of the awards, that would be my favorite one because my fans support me so much."
She then dropped a hint on her next studio recording saying, "I am very glad that they've given me the time to grow as an artist, and I look forward to entertaining you again. So, back to the studio I go." Perry also said that sweeping the awards is "the best way to start off the New Year."
MTV lists down the other big winners of the night which includes Jason Mraz for "Favorite Male Artist", Taylor Swift for "Favorite Country Artist", Nikki Minaj for "Favorite Hip Hop Artist", Rihanna for "Favorite R&B Artist" and The Wanted for "Favorite Breakout Artist", who delivered an entertaining conclusion for their speech with an a capella rendition of the Starland Vocal Band classic "Afternoon Delight". One of the members Max George then said that they dedicate the song to Ellen DeGeneres.
