article imageSamsung reveals world's first curved OLED TV

By Milton Este     Jan 9, 2013 in Technology
If a flat screen TV isn't enough to satisfy, perhaps a curved TV will. Just making its way on display, the Samsung curved OLED TV is the first of its kind.
Is this a hit or a flop? No one knows for sure, but Samsung claims it offers a better experience in any aspects involving a TV. Mashable reports the panoramic display gives a realistic sense of the surroundings, as so Samsung states. Is this true? There is no way to find out as this is still a concept and no where near a consumer release.
In fact, this is so recent that, according to DVICE, Samsung's PR team didn't even receive the specifications yet. Therefore, other than the fact that this TV is currently 55 inches with an OLED display, there is nothing else work with.
The intentions of the OLED display aren't quite clear, but the organic light emitting diode operates without a back light and can achieve a higher contrast ratio in a dark room compared to an LCD display.
Diving into their press release, they say:
When watching captivating content such as vast landscapes and scenes from nature on the Curved OLED TV, they will feel like they are surrounded by the beautiful scenery.
However, there is no mention as to other experiences gained from this TV especially when viewing videos of other genres.
As of the moment, this curved OLED TV is expected to come out in the second half of 2013, offering consumers the partial IMAX experience.
