A wedding ceremony taking place on a hot air balloon made an emergency crash landing in a San Diego yard after being caught by a wind gust.
It seemed like a romantic idea — a wedding ceremony held on a
hot air balloon. But for one couple, things quickly turned disastrous.
Kerin and Jonathan Narcisse were exchanging their wedding vows during the
balloon flight with the pilot and an 11-person wedding party onboard when the balloon suddenly caught a gust of wind and was forced to make an emergency landing in the yard of a San Diego home.
"A couple times he tried to land, we floated over," said groom Jonathan Narcisse. "We kept missing landing spots. Next thing you know, we're descending and I'm thinking, 'How is he going to land here, because there's no place to land.'"
After hitting a fence, the
balloon skidded through an area of trees before coming to a stop in a neighboring yard.
The hot air balloon wedding was the bride's idea — because the groom is scared of heights. "I am," he admitted. "Terrified."
Only one of the passengers on the balloon flight suffered a minor back injury. The couple, determined not to ruin their big day, continued the wedding reception. This time, on the ground.
