article imageOp-Ed: Lighting the way with any spare batteries lying around

By Milton Este     Jan 5, 2013 in Technology
Don't you just hate managing several different types of batteries at once? Your flashlight uses one type of batteries, and something else will use another type of batteries. It can be a pain and inconvenience to keep track of them all, until today!
What if there is a solution to all this? What if electronics can be powered by multiple sources, or in this case multiple batteries?
According to DVICE, Panasonic has introduced this concept with a flashlight. However, the Panasonic BF-BM10 is not just any ordinary flashlight. It actually incorporates multiple battery compartments to support whatever batteries you have lying around.
As of this model, the BF-BM10 by Panasonic accepts AA, AAA, C, and D type batteries. The cylindrical design supports these one, two, or all these batteries in a very compact and efficient storage design.
More information can be found on Panasonic's web page here.
On another note, this flashlight concept raises a few eyebrows. Why not apply it further and extend its convenience?
There are many everyday small portable gadgets that run on batteries, especially when a wall socket plug simply won't do. For example, alarm clocks, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, electric shavers, and other wacky electronics you can think of all run on batteries.
