Miami - A bizarre incident, in which a homeowner shot an intruder who was allegedly in the process of choking the family dog, has been reported today.
According to police, around 5am Wednesday morning the occupants of a house in Miami were woken by a disturbance. There was a commotion and the occupants dogs were barking loudly. Imagine their shock when they investigated the noise and allegedly found a completely naked man trying to choke one of their dogs, a rottweiler.
The homeowner was armed and as NBC reported he shot the intruder in the leg, discharging his weapon twice.
There are claims that the intruder was held by the homeowner until police arrived. It is suspected that the intruder was high on drugs as he tried to bite the homeowner, police and then staff at the Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
A police spokesperson has said that the shooting appears to be a justified one. as the homeowner was also attacked. As the homeowner attempted to remove the man from attacking the dog, the intruder turned on him. He allegedly tried to bite the homeowner and begun fighting him. At this point the homeowner opened fire.
Police said the suspect, who refused to give his identity, will be charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault, animal cruelty, resisting arrest with violence and lewd and lascivious behavior.
In May 2012 a homeless man was attacked in Miami by a naked, crazed man who tried to eat his face. The story was shocking and the victim was left with terrible disfigurements. In this case the attacker, Rudy Eugene, who was shot and killed at the scene, was thought to be under the influence of “bath salts", a drug being called the new LSD.
