Namco Bandai has released the launch trailer
for the online PC game called “Gundam Online” which is currently in its open beta mode according to MMO Culture. This is supposed to be the biggest game in the Gundam let alone Gundam Universal Century (UC) franchise. December 19 was the set date
for the open beta while December 17 was set for the pre-open beta. For the game play itself, there's going to be 100 people playing in a competition mode; however, the game play is not a free-for-all battle. As the game is set in the UC era, half the players will be part of the Earth Federation and the other half will be part of the Republic of Zeon.
That's not all; players will be selected to act as characters. On top of that, those commander players will be portrayed by the UC characters such as Amuro Ray (the titular protagonist of the Gundam series) representing the Earth Federation and Char Aznable (the titular antagonist of the Gundam series) representing Zeon. As a commander, you would be able to send out spy drones, call for supplies, and so forth. Also, you can issue commands and direct troops to certain locations. In short, Gundam Online is a mixture of action and strategy. Plus, you get access mobile armors such as a Gundam unit when playing the game.
However, this game is only available in Japan at the moment.
