By Can Tran     Dec 27, 2012 in World
The residents of Onojo City, Japan were informed by the Guinness World Records that they have the title of the world's longest "human chair."
If you manage to set a world record, you could find yourself making history as being in the Guinness Book of World Records. You can do just about almost anything, within humane ethics, for a shot to be in the Guinness World Records. So far, there is a Guinness World Record for many things as long as it warrants something worthy to set a world record. In sports, you can set a world record for many wins, losses, draws, and so forth. In terms of combat sports like mixed martial arts (MMA), you can set a record for the number of wins in your career by KO, tap out, etc. In terms of vehicles, you can set a record for the most fuel efficient vehicle or the most expensive vehicle. This even includes setting the world record for longest “human chair.”
The news outlet called RocketNews24 reported that the city of Onojo City in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan was recently notice from the Guinness World Records that it officially got the title of the “longest human chair.” When doing something you think is worthy for a Guinness World Record title, make sure the paperwork is done properly and that everything is recorded by video, photo, and so forth. That's what the people of Onojo City had done. Seeing how it may take some time for the people of the Guinness World Record to reveal all entries, the people of Onojo City gathered on October 28.
Over 1,300 gathered at one of the parks in Onojo City. However, the main purpose of this “human chair” wasn't to make it in the Guinness World Records. That day was the 40th anniversary of Onojo City becoming a municipality. The human chair idea came to be as it meant trust and unity among those living in the municipality. With a whole bunch of people participating in this “human chair,” it would seem more than likely to go ahead and vie for the title of the world's longest human chair. Currently, there was a title already in existence which was held by the country of Singapore.
To do the human chair, one person sits on an actual chair. If you were the person to sit on the chair, someone else would sit on your knees. Then, another person would sit on that person's knees. It's like a long seated human caterpillar. Once everybody was gathered, everybody “took” a seat on the count of three. So far, they managed to do this in one attempt. While this looks simple, it takes a lot of logistical coordination and so forth. On December 18, the people of Onojo City got notice that the title of longest “human chair” belongs to them.
Now, there is the question: Who will try to take the title from Japan. Keep in mind that Japan is reported to have other interesting Guinness World Records. This human chair idea is an example of people coming together to meet one simple goal.
