The 23-year-old medical student who was the victim of a brutal gang-rape, has been transferred to a multi-organ transplant specialist hospital in Singapore. Her condition is now extremely critical.
The Indian High Commission in Singapore confirmed the young woman was transferred to Singapore by an air ambulance on Thursday. She has been admitted to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital. The BBC reported Delhi's Medical Superintendent of the Safdarjung Hospital, Doctor BD Athani, said the hospital had "a state-of-art multi-organ transplant facility" suitable for the victim's intestinal injuries.
The Hindu reported the Indian government has declared it will cover the full cost of the victim's medical expenses. Dr. Athani said the treatment in Singapore could take several weeks.
In India the government has ordered an investigation into the gang-rape following violent protests.
