Brooklyn - Capital Steez, a member of Brooklyn rap collective, Pro-Era, has died. Steez, real name Jamal Dewar, reportedly died in the early hours of Christmas Eve. He was 19.
The cause of death is believed to be a suicide because at 11:59 pm on December 23rd, he tweeted "The end."
Joey BadA$$, Capital Steez's friend and Pro-Era partner was beside himself upon hearing the news. "This unfortunate xmas...Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy. May your soul rest in peace, Jamal," Joey tweeted.
Joey and his Pro-Era crew was coming off the celebration of the release of their newest mixtape PEEP: The Aprocalypse, produced by DJ Statik Selektah.
According to MTV News, Steez and Joey broke out into the Hip-Hop business together, and Steez appears on numerous tracks on the new mixtape.
Joey Bada$$ was also featured on Capital Steez's solo mixtape AmeriKKKan Korruption, which debuted in April.
Joey and Pro-Era have been known around the the NYC Hip-Hop scene for a while, but it wasn't until Joey appeared in the 2012 "The Man With The Iron Fists" BET Cypher that the rest of world took notice. He also made sure to shout out his Pro-Era family.
