Newsweek has selected a black and white photo for its last ever print edition: a photograph of its Manhattan headquarters. Alongside the photograph is the strapline #lastprintissue. The
hash-tag is a nod towards the magazine going on-line (and available as a
digital only edition form 2013).
Newsweek is published in New York City and was founded in 1933. The magazine is distributed throughout the United States and internationally. It is, and up to its final edition, the second-largest news weekly magazine in the U.S. (the most popular is Time). Newsweek
sells around 1.5 million copies per week. Time sells around 3.2 million weekly copies.
The final print edition of Newsweek will be published worldwide on December 31. With the digital edition there will be a slight change of name, with a
change of title to 'Newsweek Global'. It will also be a single, worldwide edition rather than a regional magazine as with the current print edition.
